4. disksuite question (Jeff Wellens)

I believed that you could have missing to configure boot disks properly on
NVRAM parameters. So you basically need to bring system to an "OK" prompt,
and verify to ensure "boot-device" has both your primary and secondary
disks. It is a good practice to have both disks label accordingly by using
"show-disks" to find disks physical devices path and then "nvalias" to give
them an alias names. Am enclosed instruction below for you to follow.

Creating a Boot Alias at the Ok Prompt:
---------------------------------------
1) Get the physical path to your boot disk from either format, or probe
2) ok show-disks ... pick the physical path that matches up until /sd@
             Example:
The physical path to the device is:
/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0
             show-disks will display: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad

3) ok nvalias alias_name ctrl+y .. then finish off the alias
             Example:
             Continuing with the example above
             ok nvalias alias_name ctrl+y@0,0

In order to boot off the new alias: ok boot alias_name
In order to make this device your default boot device:
ok setenv boot-device alias_name

Thanks to all that answer. As I had already guessed, there are
no driver for D-Link DFE-580TX for the SPARC platform.

Subject: disksuite question
Date: Tue, 10 Dec 2002 10:37:43 -0600
Hello all.
Here is my issue:
The primary boot drive using Disksuite went down. The only way I was able
to boot from the mirrored boot drive was to boot off the cdrom, edit the
vfstab so
everything mounted from the secondary drive, and also comment out the
following line in /etc/system:
rootdev:/pseudo/md@0:0,10,blk
I now have the primary boot drive physically replaced and the server can
see
it fine. I formatted it to match the secondary boot drive.
I then ran metareplace -e commands to sync up the primary and secondary
boot
drive. Everything says OKAY when running metastat.
>From here I am stuck. Does anyone have any pointers on what my next step
would be to get this system back to normal? Can
I just modify the /etc/vfstab and /etc/system files to have it boot from
the
md devices?
Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.
Thank You.
