alternative filesystem

Hello Folks,

I am not sure if this is even a sensible issue, but I just had to get it off
my thorax:

Anytime there is an unceremonious reboot or shutdown of my Ultra 10 running
Solaris 9, a slice or two gets damaged and I have to fsck (sometimes
unsuccessfully), but with any of my Intel boxes running Linux (and using
reiserfs) I almost never have to worry about this issue

The question then is this: Is there a more advanced filesystem that one may
use in place of the traditional Solaris filesystem? I'm thinking along the
lines of reiserfs, xfs, jfs, or even evms that are available options on.

TIA,

Qv6
