DNS update compatibility

Hi,

We're planning on updating our DNS servers from the standard Solaris DNS
server on
Solaris 8 02/02 (BIND 8.2.2) to ISC Bind 9.2.1. All our clients are Solaris
8 02/02.
Are there any incompatibilities between the standard client resolver
libraries, and
a BIND 9 server (ie will we have to update the clients to take account of
the server
update). ??

Would we be better off just upgrading to the latest version of ISC BIND 8
(we'd much
prefer not to update the clients if at all possible) ???
