Hi folks,
thanks to everyone who replied to the email below.
I finally have things working but I'm still a bit confused
about why.
The problem truned out to be my /etc/bootparams file.
This is the version which doesn't work:
newhost root=js_server:/jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_10-01/Solaris_8/Tools/Boot
install=js_server:/jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_10-01 boottype=:in
sysid_config=js_server:/jumpstart/Sysidcfg/Solaris_2.8
install_config=js_server:/jumpstart rootopts=:rsize=32768
This is the one which works:
* install_config=js_server:/jumpstart
medlock root=js_server:/jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_10-01/Solaris_8/Tools/Boot
install=js_server:/jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_10-01 boottype=:in
sysid_config=js_server:/jumpstart/Sysidcfg/Solaris_8 rootopts=:rsize=32768
Anyone have any ideas what may be going on here ?
Thanks again.

We have a jumpstart server on our class B network.
Our netmask for all systems is 255.255.0.0
The server is on say:
333.333.173.80
If I try and jumpstart a client on say:
333.333.173.90
it works fine.
If I try and jumpstart a client on say:
333.333.172.90
Then it doesn't work.
On the client you see:
panic - boot: could not mount filesystem
On the server I see (using snoop):
TFTP blocks deleted
client -> js_serv TFTP Ack block 310
js_serv -> client TFTP Data block 311 (512 bytes)
client -> js_serv TFTP Ack block 311
js_serv -> client TFTP Data block 312 (192 bytes) (last block)
client -> js_serv TFTP Ack block 312
client -> BROADCAST BPARAM C WHOAMI? 333.333.172.90
client -> BROADCAST BPARAM C GETFILE root
client -> BROADCAST BPARAM C GETFILE root (retransmit)
client -> BROADCAST BPARAM C GETFILE root (retransmit)
client -> BROADCAST BPARAM C GETFILE root (retransmit)
etc
etc
Does jumpstart therefore require a boot server on the
333.333.172 network ?
I thought only one boot server would be required for our
333.333 network.
Thanks for any help/advice/suggestions.
