Hi All,
My problem is bit close to some of the recent contribution on backup
speed.
I am having problems getting good transfer rate for moving data from
direct attach on a sun 4500 to an Auspex NS3000 filer via nfs. I have
about 120GB of data in which almost 100GB of it are small html files (4k
-1M). The best rates I have gotten over GB link has been 1.5M/s.I have
tried using both rsync and tar. I do get about 12M/s for big files of
about 1Gb using the same tools. Please what other good tools are their for
transfering small files over NFS ?
The other facinating thing to me is that I get better sustained rates
using a linux box (1MHz 512MB) than a 4500 ( 4 processors and 5 GB-solaris
7)to copy data to the same filer via NFS. Thanks in advance for your
contributions to this, I am quite sure there a number of people using
their enterprise sun servers with filers to transfer 100Gigs of data
over NFS.
