Samba 2.2.x with XP Clients

Hello Sun Mavens,

I have installed Samba 2.2.6 (latest version), which, I was told, "works
better with XP", on a Solaris 8 x86 machine. When trying to access shares
from Windows XP clients (Windows 2K clients don't seem to do much better,
actually). I keep getting the following message:

"This account is not authorized to log in from this station"

Whether I try accessing the shares from the "Map Network Drive..." dialog
box, or from the "NET USE \\server\share" command line. I have tried
reconfiguring Samba with just about every combination, including the
smallest, bare-bones /etc/samba/smb.conf file, with "workgroup" set to my
Windows 2000 domain name (CAWAI) or set to another name, with passwords
encrypted or not, with security set as USER, SHARE, SERVER, with local
passwords or using my Win2K domain controller as a password server. Nothing
seems to work.

I tend to think that passwords are actually not the problem, because if I
enter my user name (after clicking "Connect using a different user name")
and password, I get the error message above, but if I purposely mistype my
password, it comes back to me and prompts me with username "CAWAI\fabrice",
proving that it can detect good and bad passwords.

Also, I run "smbclient -L cadata" from a Unix system, I have no problem
seeing the shares, whereas they can't be browsed from a Windows machine.

I should mention that I have already tried to set "EnablePlainTextPassword"
to 1 in the Windows registry, without results.

I am getting desperate to make this work. If you could suggest a
combination that I haven't already tried, I would be forever grateful!

Cheers!
