Hi World,

I am now trying to install XFree86 v4.1.0 to a Compaq 735CA laptop running
Solaris 7 x86. The reason is Solaris 7 x86 doesn't support S3 Savage 3D
TwisterK video card and FlatPane Display of the laptop.

But after I finished "sh xinstall.sh" successfully and started running
"xf86config", the program asked me to input HSync and VSync myself. It
differs from the document which says it provides a list of Video Cards and
Monitors (including S3 Savage/VESA) for me to select.

Then I started to work around by configure Monitor myself. After that I run
"startx", but it halted in the mid says "XAUTHORITY=/.Xauthority not a valid
identifier". I looked inside startx script and found it use borne shell and
command "export XAUTHORITY=$HOME/.Xauthority", I tried this line in command
line directly, but it works.

So, I'd like to know:
1) How to let XF86config to find out the available Video Card drivers? I
have found the S3 "TwisterK.o" file in /X11R6/.../modules directory.
2) If I need to modify etc/X11/XF86Config file to add device driver myself?
3) If not, how to make "startx" work?

I have downloaded XF86 v4.2.0 from xfree86.org ftp site but installation
says it lacks some .tgz files. By the way, v4.2.0 has not difference in
supporting the Monitor and Video Card.

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!
-Zimmer
