socket: All ports in use

Hi everyone,
We have a mixed solaris 2.6 and 8 web server
environment (in process of upgrading), every
time they push a large amount of data using
rdist, they get the "socket: All ports in
use" error on solaris 2.6 systems.
I know that I have to either increase the
number of pts's or lower the TCP time_wait.
Here are my questions:
1- Is it safe to just lower
tcp_time_wait_interval to 60000 on all web
servers?
2- Are tcp_close_wait_interval and
tcp_time_wait_interval the same thing with
different names on different Solaris versions?
3- What if I add: set pty_cnt=256 and the
above parameter on both solaris 8 and
solaris 2.6? what do I lose?

Any suggestion would help,
Thank you and I will summarize.
Vahid.
