Solaris 8 Multipathing MAC/ARP Question

I have a netra T1 with two hme interfaces. I have successfully set up
multipathing on it and it fails over just fine. But following the
directions of the sun doc "Multipathing-updt1.pdf", sun recommends to set
the eeprom to assign unique mac addresses to the two interfaces. IE:
#eerpom local-mac-address?=true

This will change the last bit of the mac address, so both interfaces will be
unique.

The problem is that when an interface fails, say hme0, hme1 get's hme0's IP
address, but the clients will not go to hme1, because their arp entries for
hme0's IP address are tied to hme0's mac address. If I clear the client's
arp table after a nic failure, then the client can connect to the new nic no
problems. Or if I don't set unique mac addresses on the interfaces, then
the failover goes with no problem. (hme1 picks up hme0's traffic and vice
versa)

I would like to keep the mac addresses the same on both interfaces, that way
if a switch fails, then the client will failover to the new nic without
having to have it's arp entries cleared.

What type of problems will I run into by not assigning unique mac address to
both interfaces? Will traffic bound for .135 on hme0 go to .136 on hme1
because the mac address is the same? (I Don't think this will happen, but
I'd like to know if problems like this will happen).

Thanks

Aaron
