Genericstable feature does not appear to be working

OS: Solaris 7
Application: Sendmail 8.12.6

Issue: The genericstable feature for address re-writing does not appear to
be functioning properly.

Symptoms: A sender can send to the virtual hosted id, as an example we'll
say guru@answerunix.net that's hosted on a server called postoffice in the
na.post.net domain. The issue arises when the virtual hosted id,
guru@answerunix.net, tries to send. The mail arrives as the UNIX account id
associated with the virtual hosted id in the form of
user01@postoffice.na.post.net. The machine and domain names are sent
instead of the preferred address of guru@answerunix.

Has anyone been able to get this feature of sendmail functioning properly.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I will summarize. Thanks id advance!

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
