Hi all.
The problem was that another admin changed the settings for /etc
An ls -lt /etc shows as:
srwxr-xr-x 29 root sys 3584 Sep 5 12:04 etc
Deleted /etc and restored from tape and all is fine now.
Still finding out what the s means.
Thanks again.

Subject: myb: no such aliasmyb isn't unique
Hi all.
I have a Sparc Server 1000 Solaris 7 that will not come up.
It gives the following error:
myb : no such aliasmyb inn't unique
Cannot open system file: /etc/system
panic[cpu0]/ thread=0xe0204000: read_biding_file: /etc/name_to_major
file not fd
skipping system dump - no dump device configured
rebooting....
Resetting....
And this goes in a loop.
Thanks
