Solaris 10 Volume Manager hosed

Hi all

Somehow I've managed to lose the /devices/pseudo/md@0:admin entry on one of my
Sun Fire V240 systems. Volume Manager was working fine, with a simple set of
mirrored filesystems, including root (two physical disks). It had developed a
fault that I was trying to fix. I've got the system going using 'normal' disk
devices on one disk, but /devices/pseudo/md@0:admin no longer exists on either
disk.

How do I get it back? I tried a mknod, but this failed saying the directory
was read-only. At the next opportunity (tomorrow morning), I'm going to try a
'boot -r', having reinstalled the SUNWmdr package.

What triggers the reconfigure to recreate the md entry? A /kernel/drv/md.conf
file exists, but all it contains is a comment that its contents are now
obsolete and don't do anything.

Would removing and re-installing Volume Manager be likely to help? If so,
what packages constitute Volume Manager? I've found SUNWmdr, SUNWmdu,
SUNWmdar, SUNWmau. Any others?

Any help/suggestions gratefully accepted.

Regards,
        Tom
