I've searched through the FAQ but can't find a solution.
I have a Sun E3000 with an internal and an external SCSI controller. When
I had Solaris 7 installed on this machine I used Disk Suite (probably v4.1)
to mirror the OS drive. I've recently upgraded the system to Solaris 8 and
want to do the same thing with Disk Suite 4.2.1. When I run metatool I get
the following messages:
# metatool
Initializing metatool... Done.
Discovering drives and slices... olympus: RPC: program not registered
olympus: RPC: program not registered
olympus: RPC: program not registered
Done.
Discovering database replicas... Done.
Discovering hot spare pools... Done.
Discovering concat/stripes... Done.
Discovering RAID devices... Done.
Discovering mirrors... Done.
Discovering trans devices... Done.
Updating mount and swap information... Done.
And the the meta tool GUI displays. When I start the Disk View GUI it
opens but I can't see any of the controllers or disks in the system. I've
installed all the latest patches on this machine. Am I missing a step
somewhere? Trying to run the DIsk Manager gives me an error saying:
Selected tool not available. Please install the
following package: Solstice AdminSuite "SUNWadm"
I can't seem to find my AdminSuite disk and the only downloads from Sun.com
for Solaris 8 are the 3 CDs and Sun now charges for the download.
Is the missing AdminSuite package what's keeping me from seeing the
disks/controllers/slices or is it something else?
