T2000 under performing with Oracle RAC 10g R2

Dear managers,

We have a set up of T2000 which has 3 node Oracle RAC 10g R2 cluster. The systems are having Solaris 10 (Release 11/06) and installed with latest kernel patches available as on Sept-07 patch release.

Ever since we did the installation of these servers, the dba keep complaining about performance issues. The actual problem statement is as below:
---> When we run a query in single threaded mode, it runs as expected or comparatively better...... but when dba is trying to run multi-threaded (4+ parallel processes),, it became very slow. Since it is T2000 with 24 virtual CPUs, the general expectation is that it will run faster/ at least as good as single threaded query... but in parallel mode, the situation is getting worse.

I read couple of articles regarding Solaris 10 + T2000 and Oracle 10g combo, but everywhere getting contradictory information. Nowhere we are getting even close to the solution or at least suggestions. :-) Sun says that it is Oracle's problem and dba says that T2000 are not good for databases!

For information, the oracle database is hosted on ASM volume using raw devices. These are RAID 10 luns from STK 6540 SAN.

Has anyone faced such situation? If yes, how to proceed to get desired performance.

Any suggestions in this regard will be greatly appreciated. I will summarize all replies.

Thanks,
Mohan Kumar
