IIIi versus T1

We currently have 3 x v240's located at a hosting facility and pay per u
for rack space. We need to add additional processing power but really want
to try and keep the footprint the same or reduced. We need 3 servers for
redundancy but are hesitant to add a fourth. My thought was to replace
them with either the T1000 or T2000 systems with multiple cores each.

The current v240's have 2 x UltraSPARC-IIIi @ 1.5Ghz with 16Gig of RAM.
The thought was to replace them with T1000's running with 8 cores @ 1Ghz
with 16Gig or RAM. Of course cost is a large factor and couldn't be twice
the cost of the existing v240's...

Each server runs multiple tomcat instances used to deploy java
applications developed internally.

I'm having a hard time locating any benchmarks that would compare these
two systems. Does anyone have any real world experience with these two
system running side by side?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
