X-server could not be started on display:0...

Hi all,
   
  I have Solaris 5.8 desktop box; the problem is when i try to go into CDE environment by giving it init 6....it first gives the following message.

  Starting desktop login on display:0...
  **********************************************************************
   
  and then the following error.
   
  ***********************************************************************
  X-Server can not be started on display:0....
  ***********************************************************************
   
  Does anyone has an idea what does this error mean ? and how to rectify it.
