SunFire 490 --> 3310 3.5 ver Dual Controller (Solaris 10) PowerFailure/FIRMWARE WOES --> Password LOST!!!

Running under "dirty power" while in probable scanning mode, our 3310 connected via dual controller configuration to a Sunfire 490 was power cycled.....a few times........

First it started losing state. The 3310 could not retain via a format command the sd.conf set. to match the setup configuration. Or we didn't see what was clearly set and accessible before the power reset in the configuration.

No errors appeared via either the sccli or the hardware management RS232/telnet access. NVRAM was supposedly completely saved (by other engineers futzing around with it before me).

I removed and rebuilt the configuration and again could still not see the 3 choices for the 3310 to format that were setup as RAID 1+0 64MB slices.

I didn't get a chance to do too much here, since it would suddenly start denying access via telnet or even RS232 access.

All things being as they are, I had other projects concurrently....

At next accidental reboot, while on my project "back burner" the 3310 started to show the controller as two SECONDARIES as if one of them were failed.

I updated the sccli to 2.3 in preparation for firmware update to 4.15 (for 3510) [it's 3.5 now] under Solaris 10 via the script upgrade process described in the Sun 3310 Management Upgrade document.

At next accidental dirty power weekend reboot (we live in AZ where the Thunder/Lightning is frequent) we could not access via the sccli for the password. We could not and still cannot login directly to the management portal and cannot access via cu terminal. sccli let's me access, but I can't even save all of the configuration to a file -- it repeatedly asks me for a password and returns empty sections. I can change the password, but it does not change the password for the RS232 term or telnet access? I am accessing by passing the IP and password to the sccli application?

HELP HELP HELP HELP!

1) I need a 3310 password reset procedure? Does one exist?

2) I need information pertaining to whether we need to replace the FRU now? Many documents clearly state that the controller failed through power reset while scanning or other anomolies must be replaced at about $3,000? Can I convert the 3310 to JBOD mode without replacing it (if in fact I ever get password access again)?

3) The known problems with the 3310 firmware describe problems such as these, but not any really clear resolution other than upgrade and patch (as usual). Any other help from your experiential base would be appreciated?

Fear and loathing!

Thanks very much for any and all help!
