Hello Sunmanagers

Now my preparation depending Solaris 10 11/06 Sparc and ZFS including Zones
etc. is in good progress. All actually is running well. I found also a bug
in ZFS:

http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=87020&#87020

I'm still trying to get the test patch IDR125057-01 but because I'm a privat
person I was not able to get it but this is another story. Anyway the system
is now running well and I prepare now my applications it means I would like
to compile all my application like apache, php, bind etc. For this I used
within a Solaris 8 installation a special package list. Now because Solaris
10 is a little bit different I'm wondering if somebody have such a
recommended package list which covers the most prerequisit's depending
compiling applications. I'm fully aware that some stuff like bind needs
addtional special package's like SUNWdpl.

Based on a core installation my list depending addtional package to be
installed is:

SUNWtoo Programming Tools
CD1
SUNWipc Interprozess Communication
CD1
SUNWgzip The GNU Zip (gzip) compression
CD2
SUNWbcp SUN OS 4.X Binary Comp.
CD2
SUNWscpr Source Compatibility, (Root)
CD2
SUNWscpu Source Compatibility, (Usr)
CD2
SUNWowbcp OpenWindows binary compatibility
CD2
SUNWscbcp SPARCompilers Binary Compatibility Lib
CD2
SUNWarc Archiv libraries
CD4
SUNWlibm Math & Microtasking Library Headers & Lint Files
(Usr) CD4
SUNWlibmr Math Library Lint Files (Root)
CD4
SUNWbtool CCS tools bundled with SunOS
CD4
SUNWhea Sun OS Header Files
CD4
SUNWsprot Solaris Bundled tools
CD4
SFWaconf autoconf - GNU autoconf
CD Software Compagnion
SFWamake automake - GNU automake
CD Software Compagnion
SUNWgm4 GNU m4 - A macro processor (gm4) 1.4.2
CD5
SUNWgcc GNU C - The GNU C compiler 3.4.3
CD5
SUNWbinutils GNU binutils - Binary file utilities 2.15
CD5
SUNWgcmn Common GNU package
CD2
SUNWgccruntime GCC Runtime - Shared libraries used by gcc
CD2
                        and other gnu components

Is there something missing?

Is there another recommendation dependig compilation?

Another thing is because I have new more as 1 CPU in the server I'm
wondering if there is something special within the compilation it means to
support multi cpu's. If I'm right not every application can support more as
1 CPU but I do not have any experience with multi cpu support. Can somebody
give me some hint's depending this what has to be done probably special if
./configure is used etc.?

Any hints and answers would be wellcome.

Many thanks.

Andrea
