Should users credentials be changed when changing their UID?

I'm changing several users UID's on Solaris 9.
My question is do I also need to change their LOCAL and DES credentials?

When I issue

#niscat cred |grep username

the credential information remains the same and doesn't change after
changing their UID to the new number. The credentials have the old UID
number in them.
