Hi *Sun Managers*.
My problem was trying to install a new *tape - DDS2 in my Sparc 5*. Finally
this message disappeared.
Can't read disk label
Can't open disk label package
Can't open boot device
I did so many things to resolve it, I did the following:
1. *'fsck'* the boot partition. It could need to use an alternate super
block.
2. *'format'* the disk to restore the primary from the backup label.
3. Check the hardware, aliases, paths and settings using *OBPcommands*:
probe-scsi-all, devalias, printenv and boot-device.
4. *Upgrate the OBP*.
But, any of this couldn't resolve my big problem !!
So many times the best answer is the simpler... The error was a improper
termination. Only a *bad termination on the tape drive*. Today all is
running ok.
Thanks for your help, especially to Brad, Daniel, Simon and John.

*When I boot the system without the tape it starts normally. But, the
problem is when I put the tape... and I have this message:*

*I check with the commnad 'devalias' and all the paths are ok. I probe when
2 different tapes and I format the disk using the command format booting the
system without the tape . But I've the same error when the tape is
