DMP Device path

Hello,

When I use a VXVM/VXFS device with VXDMP as my multipath s/w, I always create a disk group, volume and the physical path to the device would be something like :

/dev/vx/dsk/<disk grpname>/<vol_name> or /dev/vx/rdsk/<disk
grpname>/<vol_name>.

My question is if I do not want to use volume manager and create the disk group and volume, can I run I/O to a DMP device using the path :
/dev/vx/dmp/<device_name> ?

Thanks,
Smitha
