Good Afternoon,
I have lost a file system from zpool metadata error, and need to recover
the data from the filesystem.
The filesystem consists of 1 6.5TB disk which went down in a power
outage. When I ran zpool status I got the following output:
pool: js0
id: 11969923722980803481
state: FAULTED
status: The pool metadata is corrupted.
action: The pool cannot be imported due to damaged devices or data.
see: http://www.sun.com/msg/ZFS-8000-72
config:
js0 FAULTED corrupted data
c4t0d0 ONLINE
I checked the disk, and it has no errors. According to the ZFS
administrator's guide, I attempted to export the volume, so that I could
re-import it. However, at that point it would no allow me to import the
volume at all.
I checked the article referenced by the URL above, but all it says is
recreate the zpool, and pull the data from backups. I need to just
re-create the metadata for this volume without zeroing over the data, or
failing that use a tool to pull back the data from the disk.
Can anyone give me any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike
