Fedora as ldap client on Solaris 10 ds5.2

Hi sunmanagers

I would like to reformulate my question from earlier.

I have a ldap server (ds5.2) running in Solaris 10.
I would like a Fedora 5/6 machine to authenticate based on that ldap
server. However when I choose ldap as naming service and provide basedn
and ip it does not work. Does it matter that I have a proxyagent and a
default profile that says prox as credential level.

When I use ldapsearch I have to add -x or else it complaints about sasl.
I havent't configured any sasl at the server.

Are there any ldapclient-like things for Fedora because I can make it
work on other Solaris machines but not Fedora/linux.

Sincerely
Jorgen
