I've downloaded netsnmp-5.1.1-sol8-sparc-local.gz from SunFreeware, and
installed it with pkgadd.
When I try to run /usr/local/sbin/snmpd it exits imediatly. I know it
should daemonize itself, but I don't see it in a ps output. I tried the -D
and -f flags, but to no avail. I do see teh following:
prngd snmpd snmptrapd sshd visudo
MACINE# ps -ef | grep snmp root 2030 1 0 Aug 24 ? 0:00 /usr/lib/dmi/snmpXdmid -s MACHINe
root 2023 1 0 Aug 24 ? 2:49 /usr/lib/snmp/snmpdx -y -c /etc/snmp/conf
Which I assume are Sun supolied snmp agents? If I do an snmpwalk on the
machine, it returns an empty mib set.
What do I have to do to get this machine set up to monitor it via snmp with
cricket?
