We have a Sun blade 1000 which is on it's fourth power supply. We have
added a UPS to the unit that last time and the power supply still died
after 9 months. Does anyone know how to really diagnose this so it can
be fixed correctly? I am guessing the problem is related to over draw
of voltage/current from the motherboard or CPU. My local vendor has no
suggestions other than replacing the power supply (replacing the whole
unit). "prtdiag -v" does not give voltage information but I assume some
utility will. The computer is running Solaris 8.
