problem installing patches ufter upgrade of Solaris 10u2

I upgraded my Solaris 10 to Solaris 10 update 2. During my installation
many new patches were removed etc, so I now have to go trough and update
the system. Originally had after update I did see under updatemanager
something like 150 or so patches, now I am down to 50 of them and they do
not seem to install. I did try both smpatch and updatemanager.

there are many patches that do require reboot, I did restart system (with
shutdown or init 6) and I get the same problem every time.. Why does it
say I need to restart system for the patch to be installed if it never
does it? What else can I do to get them installed? Can I force them? can I
do it manually? I just dont get it... :( Also another point, it sucks that
you have to restart system so many times to apply patches... I did like
Maintenance updates in solaris 8 where you just installed the whole
cluster without such crazy DVD update path... Anyway I have Solaris 10
update 2 and I would love to get on track with patches, can someone
suggest what else can I do or try to get them installed?
