Problem in project settings in Solaris 10...

Hi Guru's,

I'm facing a problem in setting value for "project.max-shm-memory" in
/etc/projects. I'm using command "projmod -U oracle -K
project.max-shm-memory=(priv,14848m,deny) user.oracle" to set the value.

The /etc/project file gets updated correctly as;

user.oracle:102::oracle::project.max-shm-memory=(priv,15569256448,deny)

If I do an "su - oracle" and check prctl $$ I can see the value correctly;

$ <mailto:orabils@birmingham807:/export/home/orabils> prctl -n
project.max-shm-memory -i process $$
process: 1524: -ksh
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION
RECIPIENT
project.max-shm-memory
        privileged 14.5GB - deny

But the problem is if I directly login as the id "oracle" I can not see the
value being set , it shows to be set as 1.94 GB. Hence I cannot start the DB
as my SGA size is 8GB. Whereas if I do an su to oracle I can start the DB as
the value also I can see as 14.5 GB.

This is kind of wierd problem.

Can anyone help me on this.

My system OS config are;

 OS: 5.10
Kernel Patch level: Generic_118822-30
System Hardware: E6900

Would summarize.

Regards,
Anshul Mathur
