Hi!

One of our dbas estimates the I/O performance of one of our v490 as
insufficient. We use it to run several zones.

I made some rudimentary tests with scp'ing a 2Gigabyte file filled with
zeros from one server to another.

Here are the results:
83 sec = 197 MBit from one global zone to another, both internal drives
99 sec = 165 MBit from one global zone to a non global zone. non global
on SAN with FC.
87 sec = 188 MBit from global to a non global on the same server. global
is on internal drives, non global on SAN with FC.
86 sec = 190 MBit from one non- global to another. both on SAN with FC.
87 sec = 188MBit from one non- global to another. Both on internal drives.

I think there is not much difference. All server are v490 with Solaris 10.

Could you tell me, if these values are about normal or if I have to ask
our networkers to review the switches?

Regards,
Thomas
