Clarification: LCD screens on an Ultra-10

G'day folks,

After reading some of the responses I received to my original post, I realise
I should have phrased my question much better than I did (serves me right for
rushing the post before hurrying off to (yet another) meeting). Hopefully,
the blurb below will sort out the confusion...

The client's Ultra-10 *HAD* a Creator 3D card installed but this prevented
the on-board VGA from being used (I've since discovered that we can leave the
card in and tell the PROM to use the on-board VGA - which has made the client
happy - or at least, happier). The LCD panel that they have bought is a
"stnadard" VGA (supports up to 1024x768 @ 75Hz) which the M64 should be able
to handle without any problems (and that's the interface they want to use).
Unfortunately, we (apparently) haven't been able to get a usable signal out
of the VGA port - and we've tried both the LCD panel (an NEC MultiSync 1530V)
and a "standard" VGA 15" CRT monitor.

One respondent suggested a conflict between the analog output from the SUN
versus a digital input required by the LCD monitor. I have since been told
that such monitors requiring a digital input signal use a different
connector (not a 15-pin VGA plug) - anybody care to elaborate (as I've not
seen such a beast)?

Note, we require the panel to be able to display "console mode", not just
OpenWindows (for those - rare - times when the machine has to be running in
single-user mode). I'm not at the client's site today so I can't tell you
what version of OpenBoot the machine has (if that makes a difference, but I'm
sure it's a 3.x).

So, if anybody has any further suggestions, they'd be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ciao.
