Hi All,

Had an issue with a lto drive connected to networker - was replaced, now tapes
labled on the old drive have issues due to the block sizes differences with
certian lto firmwares.

I had blown the initial tape records via

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rmt/2 count=1000 bs=1024

and then the tapes i had been able to lable and mount ok,

Now i have a few tapes that are causing problems and will not mount/lable,

if i try to dd

dd: /dev/rmt/2: open: Permission denied

i try a manual erase

/dev/rmt/2: write protected or reserved.

mt -f /dev/rmt/2 release
 mt -f /dev/rmt/2 erase
/dev/rmt/2: write protected or reserved.

The protect tab is not closed !!!

any suggestions ?

Thanks

laurence
