Large Boot Drives

Hi all,

Just curious how admins are dealing with the newer sun servers that come
with 73 or 146gb drives. For instance, are you using the entire drive
for root and maybe a var partition (is that too big for root??) or just
using a portion for root/var and then creating application/data
partitions/volumes with the rest of the drive. I have concerns about
creating application or data volumes/partitions on the root/boot drive
but at the same time I feel like I'm wasting a lot of space just putting
the OS there.

Also is anybody using Solaris 10 Sun Vol Mgr to manage their root
drives? We have always used Veritas because older versions of SDS were
inferior to Veritas but the fact that its free and you can now jumpstart
and mirror makes it more attractive.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
