Changing uname on Solaris10

Hi!

We have to install HP Data Protector on Solaris 10 servers.
Unfortunately there is no installable version for Sol10, just the
versions below.

There will be a new version, but we need it now. The only way to install
it is a Installation Server on Solaris 9, which gets patched and
installs DP on Solaris 10. Unfortunately we do not have any Sol9 machine
we could use for this.

A co-worker found 2 workarounds: There is an unreleased HP Patch which
enables Data Protector to install on Solaris 10.
Someone in the HP forums suggested creating a new /usr/bin/uname which
reads the original uname but changes all occurences of 5.10 to 5.9. This
should enable it to install.

Which way would you suggest?

Regards,
Thomas
