I'm trying to setup the NIS client but running into
problem.
Does anyone have this problem before?
root@lupine:> ypinit -c
In order for NIS to operate sucessfully, we have to
construct a list of the
NIS servers. Please continue to add the names for YP
servers in order of
preference, one per line. When you are done with the
list, type a <control D>
or a return on a line by itself.
next host to add: snowy
next host to add: zurg
next host to add: thing3
next host to add: ^D
The current list of yp servers looks like this:
snowy
zurg
thing3
Is this correct? [y/n: y] y
root@lupine:> /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstart
starting NIS (YP server) services: ypbind done.
root@lupine:> ypwhich
Domain cartoon not bound on lupine.
---------------------------------------------------
I've checked the following and they're configured
properly.
root@lupine:> grep hosts /etc/nsswitch.conf
.
hosts: files dns nis
.
root@lupine:> ps -ef |grep ypbind
root 428 1 0 07:55:01 ? 0:00
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypbind
