Hi Gurus,

My /var filesystem is almost 97% full. While investigating I found there were huge files in my /var/spool/mqueue directory. Also, when I do mailq it shows me the following output:-

      # mailq
                  /var/spool/mqueue (7 requests)

All I can understand from this output is that it wants to send a huge file and its not able to do that. But this server sends only monitoring mails (i mean the output of some common log files only) which I can't see are so huge.

There are following things I want to know here:-

  1. Is it possible to know which file(s) this server is trying to send but is nt able to do that. Reading the above files will be too cumbersome (more than 1 gig in size).

  2. Can I remove these files to create some free space on the server.

I also want to inform you all that this server is sending proper mails as of now. We have been receiving all the scheduled mails which this server sends.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

  Thanks and regards,
  Raj
