Netra ping problem

Hi SUN Managers,

I have a brand new Netra AC200 running Solaris 8. After installation of Solaris 8, I can't seem to ping to the outside world and neither can ping to it from the outside world. Below you can see some files and outputs :

# more /etc/hosts
#
# Internet host table
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.16.66.110 omc5 loghost omc5-sys.mycompany.com

# more /etc/defaultrouter
172.16.64.1

# more /etc/netmasks
#
# The netmasks file associates Internet Protocol (IP) address
# masks with IP network numbers.
#
# network-number netmask
#
# The term network-number refers to a number obtained from the Internet Network
# Information Center. Currently this number is restricted to being a class
# A, B, or C network number. In the future we should be able to support
# arbitrary network numbers per the Classless Internet Domain Routing
# guidelines.
#
# Both the network-number and the netmasks are specified in
# "decimal dot" notation, e.g:
#
# 128.32.0.0 255.255.255.0
#
172.16.64.0 255.255.240.0

# ifconfig -a
lo0: flags=1000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 8232 index 1
        inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
eri0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet 172.16.66.110 netmask fffff000 broadcast 172.16.79.255
        ether 0:3:ba:14:df:37
#

# ping 172.16.64.0
172.16.64.0 is alive

# ping 172.16.64.1
no answer from 172.16.64.1

As you can see only ping to 172.16.64.0 is possible while ping to the gateway and any other address is not possible.

What's going on ?

Any help would be appreciated. Will summarise.

Thanks,
Mira.
