Hi All,

We recently configured 2 SunFire v880's and installed Sun Cluster Software
for SunOne Application. Actually we mentioned ntp servers in
/etc/inet/ntp.conf as follows
# ident "@(#)ntp.client 1.3 00/07/17 SMI"
#
# /etc/inet/ntp.client
#
# An example file that could be copied over to /etc/inet/ntp.conf; it
# provides a configuration for a host that passively waits for a server
# to provide NTP packets on the ntp multicast net.
#
restrict default notrust nomodify noquery
restrict 127.0.0.1 mask 255.0.0.0
server 199.6.129.54 maxpoll 16
server 199.6.129.53 maxpoll 16
driftfile /etc/ntp.drift

And started /etc/init.d/xntpd service and at that time it seems to be
synchronizing time from timeserver.
But now when we issue the command

root@usxsl052 # ntpq -p
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset
disp
=============================================================================
=
 nlxsl900.slb.at 0.0.0.0 16 u 18 64 0 0.00 0.000
16000.0
 nlxsl090.slb.at 0.0.0.0 16 u 17 64 0 0.00 0.000
16000.0

it seems its not synchronizing with the ntp servers. We restarted the
services and it does not help us.
While another server which is not part of the cluster and sitting in the
same network giving output like this

usxsl003:root# ntpq -p
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset
disp
=============================================================================
=
+nlxsl090.slb.at 161.89.57.5 3 u 237 1024 367 201.74 -0.825
3.43
*nlxsl900.slb.at 161.89.57.5 3 u 278 1024 377 189.70 4.540
15.81

in which the * indicate its synchronizing with ntp server.

Why the servers under cluster are not able to synchronizing with ntp
servers.Any body please help me.

Thanks in Advance

Venkat
