Hi,
We are going to build a new v880 server by using Sun Volume Mnagement . We
are going to mirrir the root disk by using sun volume management.
Apart from this i have to build hotspares for the root disk. Hotspares for
the rootdisk for all the slices.
I know how to mirror the root disk and i am new to creating hot spares. And
i went through some documents and i found out procedure to create hotspare
pool.
But still i am having some doubts...
I would be greatfull if any one give me clear picture of creating and using
hot spares..
Once after mirroring the root disk.. I am planning to follow the following
steps.
After creating hotspare pool on slices like this
*metainit hsp001 c0t0d0s0 c0t1d0s0 (c0t0d0 is root disk and c0t1d0 is
rootmirror)*

I am adding one hotsare to hotsparepool like this
**
*metahs -a hsp001 /dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0(3rd disk)*

Do i need to associate hotspare pool with volumes like this????
**
*# metaparam -h hsp100 d10*
# *metaparam -h hsp100 d11*
**
*Where d10 and d11 are the submirros of d0(root volume).*

*Can somebody please explain me.....are the steps followed by me are correct
or not...?if not...what are the steps i have to follow ..? I am in a little
bit confusion. *
