Unable to boot V240

I am trying to install an OS on a new Sun Fire V240 (OBP 4.16.2 & ALOM
1.5.1) but the system won't even get to a shell prompt if booted from
Solaris 10 DVD or Solaris 9 CD. (Hence, I cannot even install patch
119234-01 (not sure if it will fix anything but I figure that having
the latest version of the OBP cannot hurt)).

I've tried
ok > boot cdrom - install
goes ok till the message "Hardware watchdog enabled"
then there is a (1 min) pause and a XIR reset. Now it is saying XIR
reset failed or some such message.

obdiag test-all shows all tests "passed"

Setting verbose option to boot didn't help neither did boot -ab

I created a boot disk from another Sun Fire V240 and I get the same
result. If this is a hardware problem I have not been able to isolate
it.

Please help.
