Gurus,
I've been Googling and also checking Sun's docs but so far the answers found
have not resolved my problem.
OS - Trusted Solaris 8
HW - IBM TAG H438
DB - Oracle9i
Problem:
Major "deallocation" issues with both our floppy and CDROM drives and this
occurs randomly and with different roles - i.e. oracle / primaryadmin /
secadmin/ etc. Attempts to deallocate at the command line are ineffective.
I've tried:
allocate -U primaryadmin /dev/sr0 (or /dev/diskette)
deallocate -F /dev/sr0 (which errored out)
deallocte -R /dev/sr0 (which appeared to work but when using the allocation
gui, same message of "allocate: Unable to clean up the device" message
appears, which tells me that the "deallocate -R" did not work as expected).
What am I doing wrong? So far the only way that I can clear this up is to
reboot but the server is a production server and rebooting is not really an
answer (IMO).
