That's exactly what I'm doing...
local_host$ telnet -e ^e remote_host-console
Telnet escape character is '^e'.
Trying 100.0.0.220...
Connected to remote_host-console.

And here, I just can't close the telnet session to get
back to the local_host...
It always drops me back to the RSC/ALOM login.
I'm using ~. on RSC and #. on the ALOM ports to
get back to the console. There's no any issues
here.
