Ok, found this in the field service manual - the 'copy-back' operation is supposed to begin automatically after the initial rebuild has finished and the drive is replaced. If it does not begin (like in my case, unfortunately), then:

<t3> vol recon <volume-name> from_standby

Hope that does it...
