I am trying to enable a Netra X1 which has 2 network interfaces
146.71.201.200/192.168.0.193 to act as a router across the interfaces. I
have enabled in.routed on netrax1 with the -g option.
netrx1# ps -ef| grep in.routed
root 318 1 0 11:21:15 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/in.routed -g
netrx1# netstat -nr
Routing Table: IPv4
Destination Gateway Flags Ref Use Interface
-------------------- -------------------- ----- ----- ------ ---------
192.168.0.0 192.168.0.183 U 1 5 dmfe1
146.71.0.0 146.71.201.200 U 1 2 dmfe0
224.0.0.0 192.168.0.183 U 1 0 dmfe1
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 2 6 lo0
I have a machine called client1 whose IP is 192.168.0.192 connected to
192.168.0.* subnet.
client1#netstat -nr
Routing Table: IPv4
Destination Gateway Flags Ref Use Interface
-------------------- -------------------- ----- ----- ------ ---------
192.168.0.0 192.168.0.192 U 1 1 fxp0
146.71.0.0 192.168.0.183 UG 1 2
224.0.0.0 192.168.0.192 U 1 0 fxp0
default 192.168.0.183 UG 1 0
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 1 4 lo0
There is a machine called client2 146.71.201.171 which is in the
146.71.201.* sub net. Based on the routing tables on netrx1 and client1. I
should be able to ping client2 from client1. I still can't ping client2 from
client1, though netrx1 is supposed to act like a router.
client2# ping 146.71.201.171
no answer from 146.71.201.171
Can someone pls. tell me where I am going wrong?
Thanks and Regards.
Ravi
