Thank you to all the replied.
I found the problem..I had users in the "admin" group
If a user is in "admin users", that means that samba will perform all
operations for that user using the account "root".

Subject: Samba Question - File Owner Ship
All,
Does any one know how to setup samba so that when a user from a Windows
box writes to a samba share the username is kept in tact, or if it is
possible. I have been through all the options I can think of and it
keeps defaulting to owner "root" on the unix file system. I appreciate
any advise.
Thanks
Scott
