Many thanks to all the people who responded. I got about 15 responses.

The problem was cloning an Ultra 1 (SBUS disk subsystem) to a 220R (PCI
disk subsystem).

Many of you have suggested to make sure that:
o 'bootbloks' are installed on the new disk
o make sure the OBP setting point to the correct boot device
o make sure that a volume manager was not running
o make sure that device names in /etc/vfstab matched that of
       /dev & /devices directory.
     o make sure that /etc/path_to_inst was up-to-date

And then there was a response from Alex Stade <alex@trdlnk.com> who
wrote to make sure that I had the 'glm' PCI drivers (SUNWpd & SUNWpdx)
actually installed on the new target system; I DID NOT.
Many thanks Alex !

George
