Kstat memory statistics

Hi!

I would like to rewrite the Munin "memory" plugin for Solaris.

Munin is an RRDtool-based monitoring system. The current plugin uses top
(!) to gather some statistics: 4096M real, 3209M free, 343M swap in use,
22G swap free. It's a shell script.

I would like to rewrite it as a Perl program and use the Kstat module.
But I'm not sure where to look for used memory. I found some entries
under "system_pages": freemem, physmem, availrmem. But what does "free"
mean? Really unused? And availrmem?!?

In addition, I would like to add the main consumers of memory like the
buffer cache. But I'm not sure where I find the memory consumption of
that cache.

The SE toolkit does not give me any hints. So I'd like to see if
somebody on this list has monitored memory usage in a finer granularity.

Thanks for any replies except outofoffice...
