Broken interface

Hi all,

First of all the OS is Solaris 9 x86 9/04 with the latest recommended
patches (relatively new build).

I am getting the following error on the internal interface of my firewall:
interface elxl1 to 192.168.200.254 broken: in=0 ierr=2 out=0 oerr=0

Can't find the error in the archives or on SunSolve...

I first thought of the common things:
-Bad port on the switch
-Bad cable
-Bad NIC

However, then I would expect to see these errors constantly...but I don't.

One thing to note is that this system is connected to the Internet using DSL
so I have set the internal interface mtu to 1492 in order to prevent IP
fragments. Don't know for sure if this is required as I have been out of
the networking side of things for quite some time and just getting back into
it. But from what I remember that proved to provide the best results.

So I guess I have a few questions:
-Could a machine on my internal network that still has mtu set to 1500 be
causing the error?
-Should I even bother setting the mtu to 1492, or should I just leave it at
1500 and let the kernel deal with the fragments?
-Is it anything else I could be?

Thanks and will summarize.
Marco
