LDAP Shadow File question about importing in new passwds..

I am using the bundled Sun One Directory server on Solaris 9. I am moving
from NIS to LDAP so here is what I am doing....

I take a ypcat passwd and send it thru the ringer to extract the user/passwd
and append some ::::::: and a passwd age to get my shadow file. I use the
NIS make files and import them into the directory using ldapaddent.

My question is this. This process works perfectly and keeps me from having
to do some odd ball multi level adapter between NIS/LDAP. I want to
re-import the latest passwd/shadow file into the directory... will this just
overwrite what is there? Or just butcher the whole thing?
