Has anyone seen any odd behavior with this combination
(e4800/Solaris 9.0904/OBP 5.18.0)
The system was running Solaris 8, seemingly without problems.
On attempting to jumpstart into Solaris 9, the system built just fine but
hit a 'Fast Data Access MMU Miss' on trying to boot. I went round in circles
for some time and eventually decided to try updating the firmware on an
irrational suspicion that there could be some sort of inconsistency between
a couple of boards at differeing levels. The firmware update complete
without incident, re-jumpstarted just fine and booted this time, but
subsequently did this
> /kernel/sys/sparcv9/c2audit bad shndx in symbol 1
> c2audit error reading symbols
> strplumb: can't install module drv/arp, err -1
>
> panic[cpu17]/thread=30008921d00: Can't invoke /etc/init, error 12
which is not good. In the end I too out the SVM root mirroring that I had
been trying to set up for this system and it booted, apparently without
problem :(
Now I have used the same Solaris tree and patch set (1104 + additional mods)
to jumpstart four other servers - two v440's and two v240's - with SVM root
mirrors without any problem at all; I'm at a loss to explain this. No disk
or other I/O errors reported... strange.
At one point the SC was suggesting that the TOD battery might be flat; I'm
not sure that has any bearing, but I'll take any coincidence at this point!
Any suggestions relating to this odd behavior would be appreciated...
Thanks
Tim
