Packaging Apache/mod_ssl/mod_perl for deployment

Hi everyone,

We are using a version home-made compiled version of Apache for our main
Website portal. This version is updated regulary to follow new available
version.

Currently, I need to update it to Apache 1.3.31, mod_ssl, mod_perl.

In the past there was no standard for deployment so we were just compiling
onto the production server all the components ! (not the best idea!)

We are currently updating the server from Solaris 7 to Solaris 9 and I would
like to force standards of only installing packages for application (home
made or from sunfreeware or Sun) and do not install gcc into production but
only libgcc.

So, with that in mind, how would you suggest I configured/installed
Apache/mod_ssl/mod_perl ?

At first, it seems simple, configure, make and make install in a folder then
create a package to deploy but my problem is more with perl. To install
mod_perl I need an installation of perl (Solaris 9 basic perl, is ok) but
also need libwww-perl and its prerequisites (URI, HTML-Parser, MIME-BASE64,
HTML-Tagset...)

How can I package perl prerequisites ?

- Francois
