SUMMARY: Nagios

The problem was related to gcc 3.3.2 but I don't know what the
problem exactly was.
Switching to gcc 2.95 or to 3.4.2 solves the problem, in both cases
everything compiles correctly.
I'm working on Solaris 8 with allmost the patches applied on Sparc64
system.

Someone pointed me to blastwave.org that has the prepackage version
of the tool but as for cooking I prefer to do things by myself.

In replies I got other similar tools to evaluate that are:
OpenNMS, Cacti, jffNMS

In addiction I also received suggestions to monitor network traffic
by port and by protocol using MRTG and NTop but I haven't tried yet.

My thanks go to Lard Hecking, Kevin P. Inscoe, Jeff van Eak,
Natham Dietsch, Bernhard Sadlowski, David Zigg Lubowa,
Paul Davies and everyone else who replied, Thanks

Original post was:
Did anybody succed in compiling Nagios on Solaris8/SPARC?
I compiled libjpeg, libpng and gd without any troubles. Also configure
goes fine
but gmake dies with error 1 and a lot of strange warnings on
common/object.c

Moreover I'm looking for a web-based free tool to graph network traffic
by protocol and by port,
does anybody have any suggestion?

Thanks a lot in advance
;)
